Healing with Heart: My Holistic Health Story

Hi, I’m Sonje, and I’ve been on a unique journey that has shaped both my personal and professional life. Born and raised in Bordertown, South Australia, I was exposed to a world of health and healing beyond the conventional right from very start. My mum, Faye N Rosie, was a Naturopath, Shaman, and Medical Intuitive, and her holistic approach to life deeply influenced me. In fact, I still use her Heart Healing Symbol Oracle Cards© in my work today, both professionally and personally. Though she passed away in 2017, her spirit and teachings continue to guide me.

In my early 20s, I lived in Darwin, where my eldest daughter was born, before relocating to Cairns in 2004. While in Darwin, I unexpectedly became involved with the Casuarina Cougars women's rugby union team, an experience that ignited new passions and connections for me.

When I made the move to Cairns, my journey took another turn. I got involved in Roller Derby with the Reef City Roller Girls, where I went by the name ‘Cracklin’ Rosie.’ These exciting and diverse experiences, combined with my 12 years in Community Aged and Disability Care, were interesting to say the least, but over time, I felt a deeper calling—something that aligned more with who I was becoming.

Seven years ago, I was introduced to Hawaiian Bodywork through my teacher, Dawn Charlton, who holds the sacred lineage of Traditional Old Style Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. This was the start of my journey into holistic healing, and I had the opportunity to travel to Hawaii, immersing myself in the culture and history of this incredible modality.

Along the way, I also began studying Holistic Pulsing with Michell Mercer, who has been a wonderful mentor to me over the past five years. Her guidance has deeply impacted my healing practice and has taught me the power of gentle, rhythmic movements to release tension and support the body’s natural flow of energy. It’s one of the most soothing and transformative practices I use with clients today.

As my healing journey continued to unfold, I began exploring what I now refer to as Holistic Energy Healing, which includes the powerful tools of Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code. This approach works with the energy in and around the body to clear blockages, shift limiting beliefs, and restore a state of balance and flow. It’s a dynamic and transformative way of supporting the body’s natural healing ability.

Over time, I’ve explored a variety of modalities that support people in finding balance, healing, and peace. While I may not offer all of them directly, each has played a significant role in creating space for my own growth and expansion. Together, these practices beautifully complement one another, and my ultimate goal is to help others reconnect with their inner harmony.

I’m truly blessed to share this life with my little tribe—my wonderfully supportive Dutch husband, who’s always there with love and a laughter, and our beautiful children, who seem to grow faster every day. They have this unique way of reflecting back to me my own stuff, pushing us all to expand and grow together. It’s like they hold up a mirror to my own journey, helping me evolve in ways I hadn’t expected. Watching them develop their own unique paths, while simultaneously learning from their experiences, is one of the greatest gifts of this wild, beautiful life.

Every day I’m reminded that healing is not just about the work we do, but the energy we share and the connections we make. I believe in the power of the body to heal itself, and my role is to guide you on that journey to wholeness.
